A small team looking after lodges in the trees

Woodland Holiday Lodges is run by a small team who live and work on the edge of the woodland itself. We look after a handful of timber lodges set among mature oaks and birches, each one placed far enough from its neighbours that you rarely hear anyone but the birds. Between us we handle the bookings, the changeovers and the small repairs that keep everything running quietly in the background.

We built the retreat around a simple idea: somewhere to stay that feels properly away from things without being difficult to reach. Each lodge has a wood-burning stove, a covered deck and a hot tub, and the paths between them lead down to the lake and out onto the wider forest tracks. Guests often tell us they came for a weekend and wished they had booked the week, which we take as a good sign.

Enquiries come straight to us rather than to a call centre, so the person who answers your message is usually the person who will greet you on arrival. If you are unsure which lodge suits a family, a couple or a group of friends, say so and we will suggest one. We would rather take a few minutes to get it right than have you arrive somewhere that does not quite fit.

We also work with local caterers, bike hire and forest guides, so if you would like a private dinner on the deck, a guided walk or a canoe on the water, mention it when you write and we will sort the arrangements. Dogs are welcome in several of the lodges. Tell us what you need and we will do our best to make it happen, or say honestly if we cannot.
